Where is First Intuition Chelmsford located and how do I get there?

We are located on Coval Lane, which is near the train/bus station in Chelmsford city centre.  There are plenty of transport links including mainline train and buses, including park and ride. There are also many car parks in and around Chelmsford that are close-by, however these are predominantly pay and display.

 

Can I park at First Intuition Chelmsford?

Unfortunately, there is no parking available on-site. There are pay & display car parks nearby as well as transport links, such as bus and train. Please ensure you plan your journey ahead of your exam. Please also check that these are open as many car parks in Chelmsford were temporarily closed during the last few months.  

 

What measures are in place in relation to COVID-19 and social distancing?

• Throughout the building you will see areas for hand sanitising please make use of these.

• We have will be running exams in our dedicated CBE Room. 

• If you arrive late you will be refused entry to your exam.

• From 19 July 2021, Face coverings will be optional.

• Cleaning will be carried out between each exam sitting.

• You will be allowed to bring with you water in a clear bottle to have in the exam room.

All students MUST read our full guidance and updated terms and conditions before booking an exam.

You must not book or attend an exam if you have these symptoms:

  • High temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • New, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

You should also not book an exam or attend an exam if you are or should be self-isolating:

  • Anyone with the above symptoms should self-isolate for 7 days from when their symptoms started.
  • Anyone who does not have the above symptoms should self-isolate for 14 days from when the first person in your home started having the above symptoms.

You should also confirm with your employer that attending an onsite exam is permitted within your organisation policy for working/training arrangements during this period.

When should I arrive for my exam and where do I go?

You will need to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of your exam. Please proceed to the 5th Floor, Halford House and wait in the common/kitchen area. 

 

What should I bring with me to my exam?

You will need to bring photographic ID, for example driving licence or passport, a pen(s) and a calculator. We provide paper for rough notes. Please also ensure you bring with you a clear bottle of water, as the kitchen facilities will be closed. Please only bring what you need for the exam, as storage for personal items will be extremely limited.

Digital watches will now be banned in the same way as mobile phones.  If you bring a digital watch with you you will be asked to leave it with your belongings and not have it at your desk.

Students sitting tax exams should ensure they are prepared for the correct Finance Act.  

 

When will I get my result?

For AAT Level 2 and 3 exams excluding Synoptics and Using Accounting Software, you will usually get your result within 24 hours after completing your exam. The result will appear in your MyAAT account. For all other AAT exams, results can take around 4-6 weeks. A breakdown of your result is now available on your MyAAT account

 

For ACCA exams, you will receive an instant result once you have finished. This will be emailed to you.

 

I can’t see any available exam slots online. How do I book my exam?

All available dates are published on the website.   At the present time, slots are being released on a month to month basis to allow us to respond to any changing Government advice around social disatancing/COVID-19 arrangements.    We suggest checking this site regularly for further updates.

 

I'm a student with First Intuition, do I get a discount?

Yes, all FI students benefit from a discount on our exam fees. Please contact us on 01245 209900 or at chelmsford@fi.co.uk if you have not yet received your discount code.

 

I have a promo code, how do I use it?

Once you've selected your exam and date/time, add the booking to your basket. Once in your basket, you will see a box labelled Add Promo Code. Enter the promo code you have been provided with and click Apply Code. The discount should then automatically apply before you go through to checkout.

Please note we monitor all discounts closely and reserve the right to withdraw/amend promotions and discounts at any time without notice.

 

Once I've booked my exam, can I cancel or move my booking?

For 2021 the following applies:

If you need to cancel or move your exam as you are unwell, experiencing any coronavirus symptoms and/or have been asked to self-isolate, please let us know and we will move this for you to a future date or cancel it and provide a full refund.  We are happy to do this right up until 8.30am on the morning of the exam but you must let us know in writing by emailing chelmsford@fi.co.uk. This will apply in 2021 but will be extended as necessary to future months while social distancing/guidance on self-isolation remains in place.

All other exam bookings are non-refundable, however, students have the ability to move their exam to another date/time free of charge, providing a request in writing is sent to chelmsford@fi.co.uk within 2 days of the exam date. The ability to move your exam booking within your online account will be disabled during the above period. If you wish to move your exam booking, please contact us at chelmsford@fi.co.uk.

 

Will I receive an email to confirm my booking?

Yes, once you have completed the booking process an email will be sent to the email address you have specified during registration. The email will confirm your booking and include any specific details about the exam you are due to sit.

 

If you do not receive this email within 24 hours, please contact us at chelmsford@fi.co.uk.

 

Will I get an invoice or receipt once I've paid online?

The confirmation email you receive will have details of your booking and payment, which will form your receipt.

If I need to resit an exam, when is the earliest I can book?

For AAT exams, you will need to wait at least 3 days after you have received your result to resit. You can book your resit at any time, however you will need to ensure the booking is made for at least 3 days after you have received your result.

 

For ACCA exams, you can resit at any time.

 

I need to check with work before I book my exam, can I provisionally book an exam slot?

Once you select your exam and an available session, your booking will be held provisionally for 20minutes. If you do not complete your booking within that time, the session will be released.

 

We do offer flexibility if you need to change the exam date after booking. Please see FAQ 'Once I've booked my exam, can I cancel or move my booking?'

 

Do you have a waiting list for fully booked sessions?

No, we do not have waiting lists for our exams. Instead, we recommend checking our availability regularly in case any slots become available.

 

When are exam sessions released for upcoming months?

We are currently updating our exam sessions on a monthly basis. We recommend checking this site regularly for updates on available exam sessions.

 

I don't yet have my AAT/ACCA membership number, can I still book my exam?

In order to set up your exam, you will need to be registered with your training body and we require your membership number at time of booking. Therefore, we do not recommend booking your exam until you have applied for membership with AAT or ACCA. Please be aware that organising your membership can take a number of days/weeks.

 

What do I do if I require extra time or if I have a certain request?

Students who require extra time/special arrangements should contact us directly (chelmsford@fi.co.uk) prior to booking their exam.   You should do this at least 3 weeks prior to your booking.    Ensure you provide as much information as possible in order for us to help you. Please be aware that we will require written evidence if you require extra time, which must be sent to us prior to booking your exam as approval will need to be sought from the AAT/ACCA.  Please be aware that for ACCA exams it can take up to 3 weeks to add extra time for candidates.

Which Accounting software package is used for the Using Accounting Software exam?

The SAGE ONE accounting package is used for Using Accounting Software Exams at First Intuition Chelmsford. This is a cloud-based package and is not the same as other versions of SAGE e.g SAGE 50.    Please ensure that you are familiar with SAGE ONE before booking your exam as no help can be given on the day or refunds given once your exam is booked.
